BMW M1
The M1 concept - known as M1 Hommage was unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’este over the weekend alongside the Maserati Quattroporte Bellagio Fastback and Bugatti Veyron Fbg Hermès and it proved to be the stand-out at the event. Blending retro and modern styling cues, the reincarnation of the M1 is aggressive as ever with its wide-body stance and profile.

RICH YUNG SOCIETY PICK
Limited edition cognacs are always expensive but a new level may have been reached with the Louis XIII Black Pearl cognac which sells for $8,000 (the original Louis XIII sells for around $1,500). The new release will be limited to 786 bottles, the number of decanters that can be taken from one tiercon, the type of oak barrel used by Rémy Martin to age Louis XIII. The spirit is created from 1,200 eaux-de-vie aged 40 - 100 years. The Louis XIII Black Pearl decanter is made of crystal that has a silvery gleam like polished hematite and the decanter is finished with platinum fleur-de-lis designs. Each decanter is numbered and purchasing is done by invitation only.

DIE RICH
Just in case some dictator/president should ever want to just how effective his nuclear warheads are, I wanna be prepared. That’s why these gas masks designed by Diddo Velema are going right up there on my next month’s shopping list. Sure they don’t look too comfortable to walk around in, but hey if anybody will let me walk around with a faceful of blingy diamonds, you won’t find me complaining. Velema showed them off at the Luxury Show 2008 in Bucharest, Romania so I’m guessing I’ll have to discontinue a savings bond or two to get one of these home.

NICE WINGS
If driving around in a Rolls Royce is not special enough for you, you might want to take a look at this Hood ornament its worth $200,000, which is enough money to buy ten Honda Accords. The hood ornament itself is made up of platinum and other special metals and then the diamonds are literally paved onto the ornament’s body to make it one of the most expensive car surface ever created. The wings of the hood ornament carry intense yellow diamonds and the body itself carries 150 carats of shimmering D-diamonds. All this for a symbol, which measures just 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. And like truly exclusive things, this hood ornament is completely hand made. This exclusive mascot was commissioned by local luxury car dealership Manhattan Motorcars and can be spotted at the New York Auto Show. Speaking of exclusivity, it’s not for sale or replication.
